God gives us a peace that surpasses all understanding. In this world we’re faced with the realities of disease, injustice, heartache, loss, death. After the Nashville shootings, I really internalized and understood this peace reflecting on two truths:
- We live for Him. Nothing in our lives are ours. We are stewards of all these gifts God has given us. Our families, wives, children, houses, jobs… nothing is ours. Everything is His. We are stewards for His glory. We live not for ourselves and our own ambitions, but for Him.
- We live in a broken world, but this is not the way God meant for us to live. He is restoring, and one day his kingdom will be fully restored. In the end, Jesus is on the throne. One day “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Rev 21:4)
