Our days consist of many microtransitions, from project to project and work to home, etc. Our success and happiness depends, in part, on our ability to navigate these microtransitions well. The last step in an effective microtransition is the reset. In this you focus on the goal of the next phase and what the situations and people need from you in this phase. For example: What would it mean to transition to home well. What kind of day did my family have? what mental space do I need to be in to be present with them? Focus on these transitions well. One reset ritual I have fallen out of the habit of was going up the stairs to my office. I would stop on each of 3 landings, cross myself at each one and say: 1) you have died and ben buried with Christ in your baptism, 2) you have been raised to new life with him, 3) go forth and be his hands and feet in this world. I am challenging myself to pick this habit back up and challenging the PAX to come up with an intentional, physical, reset ritual.
