COUNT: 9
WOR: Q was late & arrived w/ PAX already doing SSH IC; Abe Vigoda’s IC; Goofballs IC; Michael Phelps OYO
The Thang: Themed workout honoring the 40th anniversary of the Challenger shuttle disaster. Moseyed up the ramp to The Spa & did a series of “Ring of Fire” exercises. Musical was the Billboard American Top 40 songs for the week ending January 25, 1986.
Each “Ring of Fire” had one “active” exercise (done in 3 escalating sets of 10; 20; and 30 reps) and one “default” exercise. The PAX circled up. Two PAX assigned by the Q ~180 degrees from each other started doing the “active” exercises OYO as the remaining PAX did the “default” exercise OYO while waiting their turns. As the PAX starting w/ the “active” exercise completed their first set (10 reps), they switched to the “default” exercise, and the PAX immediately clockwise switched from the “default” exercise over to their first set (10) of “active” exercise and so on. As the wave of “active” exercise came around to each PAX again, they did a set of 20 reps, etc. When a full 3 sets/60 reps of “active” exercise was completed by all PAX, that particular “Ring of Fire” was complete. The “Rings of Fire” exercises were:
1. Active: Lunges (1 is 1); Default: Mountain Man Climbers
2. Active: Merkins; Default: Plank
3. Active: Monkey Humpers (1 is 1); Default: Hold MH position statically.
4. Active: “Heels 2 Heaven”; Default: On your 6 & hold feet 6 inches from ground.
As a short break between each “Ring of Fire,” the Q read a short collection of facts or synopsis outlining the relevant background facts & general timeline leading up to the Challenger launch & accident.
Moleskine: As a quasi-final exercise/moleskine hybrid, the PAX did a final “Ring of Fire” in plank position (or merkins OYO to break up the planking) while listening to the https://youtu.be/Qa7icmqgsow?si=mAmj7R3CqEvpq4eC made the evening of January 28, 1986 to the American people.
“And the Surly Bonds of Earth to Touch the Face of God.”
F3 Moleskine: Nothing truly worth doing in life is without risk. Don’t be reckless, but try to exhibit the bravery of a “pioneer” regarding something in your life that might require some courage on your part, whether it be related to work, personal relationships, emotional honesty with yourself or others, confronting a bad habit, etc.
COT: Nothing specifically mentioned, so we had a moment of quiet contemplation, concluding with The Serenity Prayer.
