Moleskine: During my Saturday Q, I played some music from a 1990s album The Fatherless and the Widow by a band called Sixpence None the Richer. I ran across a video clip of them on David Letterman. The lead singer Leigh Nash was explaining the band’s name. It comes from a story in Mere Christianity about a father giving his son six pence, then the son bought his father a gift with it, whereupon the father declared he was none the richer. Leigh went on to say that should humble us in how we think of our abilities, as only giving back the gifts we have been given by God.
