Moleskin@Captain Crunch (AJ) closed us with Henry V’s St. Crispin’s Day speech from Shakespeare’s play, with slight adjustments. Read and enjoy:

WESTMORELAND
O that we now had here
But one ten thousand of those men in England
That do no work to-day!

KING HENRY V
What’s he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin:
If we are mark’d to die, we are enough
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from Tar Pit:
God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man’s company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian:’
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.’
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words,
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester, @Crash and @Crack@Captain Crunch (AJ) and our beloved @SAGA
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember’d.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember’d;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in Tar Pit now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

Bridges!

Date: Thursday, 10/7/2021

17 PAX started out on a humid morning with a short WAR of motivators (7, ic) and merkins (11, ic). We divided up into 4 teams to hear the rules for the beatdown. After chiding YHC for threatening to take away fun and games if there were not enough HCs, the game was explained according to the rules below. In the end teams 3 and 4 were victorious with 4 points each (though team 3 took poetic license in their definition of a redrum). While teams 1 and 2 scored 3 points each. A good time was had by most and coffeteria discussion focused on possible rules changes in the game to close loopholes (ahem, @Banks), optimize the workout, and prevent @Captain Crunch (AJ) and @Archive from cheating.

Rules:

1. You get a point by:

1. bringing a coupon to a bridge, and completing the assigned exercises.

2. completing sets of redrums as a team (no modifications or picking up the six.)

1. You can only advance your coupon to a site (bridge or Hoffa) via rifle carry.

2. You must return to the flag between sites; (your whole team must be present at the flag before advancing to the next site–forgot to mention)

3. You may do as many redrums as you would like. For your first point, your whole team must complete 1 redrum each. Your second point costs your two redrums each. Your third costs you four redrums each. Your fourth costs your eight redrums each. (2^(n-1) redrums gets you your nth point.)

4. If you are the first team to complete the exercises at a bridge, leave your coupon in a horizontal position near the listed exercise.

5. If you arrive at a bridge and there is a horizontal coupon, you must complete 2x the stated reps to earn your point. After completing these reps, carry both coupons back to the flag.

6. As you remove coupons from a bridge, cross out the exercise (not reps) and replace it with an exercise of your choice.

7. Your team does not need to travel together. However, you must all be at the bridge together before a point is awarded. All reps must be completed within 10 feet of the bridge.

8. Only one team may bring their coupon to a bridge at a time. If two teams have men doing reps at a bridge, the team that brings their coupon first gets to continue. The other team loses all their reps and must go to another bridge. Keep your coupon vertical as you are doing your reps so that approaching teams know that the coupon that is there is yours.

9. You may not complete the same bridge 2x in a row.–forgot to mention

10. Any team that is not at the flag by 6:15:00 by my watch surrenders all of their points. Anyone who arrives at the flag early holds plank or canoe under penalty of losing points (some or all) for your team.

11. Carry all coupons at your final station back to the flag, and pick up any at any station you pass on the way.

Seven PAX showed up for an afternoon beatdown (7am). They were greeted by six gallon jugs of water and two frisbees.

WOR: Seven count motivators, arm circles, seal claps, overhead claps, copperhead squats and merkins, a slow jog down the parking lot and a skip back.

Thang 1: Arms. Four stations, two rounds. 10 pull ups, 20 reverse flys with gallon jugs, 20 side pull ups, and 20 inverted rows.

Thang 2: Frolf (frisbee golf) round 1. Two teams. To earn a throw you had to complete five reps. Choose between merkins, squats, lunges (2=1), or reverse flys. As a team, get the frisbee to the next lamp post. Advance to the frisbee after completing the reps and throw from its landing spot. As soon as the post is hit, the entire team advances to the post and restarts their reps. Played from Cooties past the pool parking lot.

Thang 3: Frolf round 2. Same teams. Six trees were designated as targets in the far east end of the park. Teams had to complete 10 reps per person before advancing to the frisbee. While advancing, the jugs had to be held out at shoulder height. Reps rotated through squats, tuck jumps, and hinge jumps.

Thang 4: Frolf round 3. Soccer goals were the targets. Instead of reps, teams had to travel to throws. For the first target, after the first throw the team had to broad jump burpee to the disc. Once one team member arrived, the rest could mosey to the disc. Lunges, bear crawl, and team’s choice finished out the round.

Thang 5: Scout mosey back to the flag. The first three HIM carried two milk jugs rifle carry style. The last man ran to the front, snagging the milk jugs from the third guy in line on his way there. Repeato. Shifted to jugs at shoulder height out to the side, then out to the front, and back to rifle carry. We arrived at the flag at 8:01, but I decided to add one last lap of the parking lot to our scout walk for good measure (since Jäzz Händz thought we were done).

COT: We praised God for bodies that work and friends to work out with. Bad Debt’s 2.0, Ben, does not have a torn ACL, as was suspected, but just a bone bruise. His recovery will be much quicker. We lifted up Jäzz Händz’s friend Brian and his wife as he is still in a coma, Crack and his family as he is travelling a lot for work, K-pop as he adjusts to the workload at college, Tortuga’s 2.0, Gulliver, as she is flying to Costa Rica today and will be there two weeks followed by Peru for four weeks, and Jailbreak’s old co-worker who passed away. Prayers for his family.

Coffeteria returned to the Wheaton Public Library after a significant hiatus!!! Saga joined us there. Jailbreak and Bad Debt had family obligations.

We split up into teams of three and set off to work our way around the small loop stopping at each lamp post to complete a couple exercises. Two members of the team would complete the exercises while the third team member ran the half mile loop until he caught back up to his team.

Exercises: started with 10 Merkins and 10 BBSU per person not running. (n-1) x 10. After the first set was complete the Pax lunged to the next lamp post and repeated the exercises doing 20 this time. The exercises remained the same for the entire beat down increasing by 10 each lamp post up to 50 and then decreasing back down to 10.

Backblast for 9/28 EC Late-Late Service Beatdown: “Bataan Death March Duo” (SOLO EC WITH M)

(I know this doesn’t technically count for a proper F3 event since there was only one PAX present, but wanted to backblast about it, to show you guys I’m still trying to stay on the ball and get in a workout despite anxiety and sleep being a major hinderance right now)

Backblast for EC Late-Late Service Beatdown

“Bataan Death March Duo”

PAX who posted:

  1. Jäzz Händz + M

M went for a run at 10:45am between work projects, asked if I’d like to join. I regretted not having a reprisal of @Cookies ‘ Tuesday EC workout at 6:30 am this morning, so this was a great makeup option.

WoR

Imperial Walkers

Bat wings (while walking)

(arm circles, overhead claps, seal claps, michael phelps)

Thang 1

Bataan Death March – Duo Edition

M began her run. YHC dropped and did 10 merkins. Sprinted to catch up. Resumed a slow mosey with her until her next checkpoint. She walked/ran in roughly 1:30-2:00 spurts, so between each of those phases I did either 10 Merkins or 25 LBCs.

Ended up doing a 25 minute run with 5 sets of 10 merkins, and 5 sets of 25 LBCs spread out between, with sprinting to catch up. Covered 1.7 miles in the Wheaton suburbs. Heart rate was going strong, sweat was flowing. Good mid-morning EC working for me, glad I was able to stay on it.

Moleskine

Listen to your wife. She loves you, and if she suggests coming for a run with her because she knows it’ll be good for you, do it. But push yourself further: show her how hard you can work, show her what F3 helps you accomplish, and show her your strength that comes from the camaraderie of all you HIMs. Show her you can work hard, and that you’re willing to do it with/for her. She’ll be impressed, you’ll get a good workout, and your bond and time spent together will be greater and deeper.
