We quickly moseyed over to the field north of the track with our coupons for the last part of the warm up: one big lap around the paved path around the track including the sidewalk by the lake, the road, parking lot, and more sidewalk. Star jump for the six.

Thang one: 50 block over burpees for time. Tbone smoked it.

Thang two: We partnered up. Farmer’s carry out 50 yards and back, trading off as needed. When finished, run a big lap.
As PAX finished they grabbed two coupons and repeated the farmer’s carry. If all blocks were engaged, find a new partner to complete the carry with. Run a small lap.
Repeato, then big lap.

Thang three: Same concept with broad jump burpees, just 50 yards. Three rounds: small lap, big lap, small lap. New partner each round.

Thang four: Hustle back to the flag and do 50 more block over burpees.

6:15 rolled around as Tbone was our only finisher although Shiplap and Tortuga finished their 50 during the COT.

Somewhere in there we ran a lap of the track. You owed a blockee for every five seconds you were slower than the Q. This was probably after Thang one.

The Thang:
Arms vs legs
PAX chose their side: arms or legs.

Kubb is set up. One side has five blocks for arms to knock down, one side has five blocks for legs. Each PAX earns tosses of a baton to try to knock down a block. Tosses may be banked. As soon as a block is knocked down by your team, your entire team must do the assigned movement before continuing.
Arms: bear crawl to the next lightpost and back. Legs, run up Hoffa and back.

You earn throws by:
Arms: 10 tricep extensions, 10 perfect merkins, 20 overhead press, 30 bent over rows
Legs: 5 mucho leggos, 10 tuck jumps, 20 Mulans, or 10 Bonnie Blairs

Once all five of your assigned blocks are knocked down you must take down the king. First team to do so forces the losing team to do their movement.

Legs won round one. We switched. Legs won round two.

Round three was abs.

Warm-Up: motivators, goofballs, arm circles, copperhead merkins and copperhead squats

Thang 1: 10 minutes, AMRAP
10 burpees, 10 squat jumps, 10 plank jacks

Thang 2:
Station one: 10 slow squats IC, 30 ssh, repeat
Station two: 10 slow merkins IC, 30 goofballs, repeat
Three groups. One at each station and one push group. Push group ran the stairs, did five tuck jumps at the top, and came down the ramp to station one. The group at station one moseys to two, then two starts up the stairs. Three or four rounds were completed. We focussed on form for the slow merkins and squats.

Thang 3: 5 minutes, AMRAP
10 burpees, 10 squat jumps, 10 plank jacks

Thang 4: Stretching
10 minutes of nice slow stretching.

Round one: 5 reps each
Increase by five reps each cycle.
First three PAX done with a cycle carry their coupon the rest of the thang and add the coupon to a station. If they are one of the first three on another round, they add the block to a second station, etc. @Big Mac ended up adding to at least four stations.

Ultimate Frisbee, old vs young. Ending in a super unsatisfying, but injury free, tie game.

Moleskin:
Cows vs Buffalo
When storms come rolling in over the mountains of Colorado cows run away from them to the far end of their field, huddle up against the fence and get drenched. Buffalo charge into the storm, huddle up against the opposite end of the field and get somewhat less drenched. By running toward the storm, they actually spend less time in it.
When you have something you are dreading, but needs to be done, don’t run from it. Get ‘er done. It’ll get it off your plate and mind sooner rather than later.

COT: Prayers for @DQ’s M with some postpartum health issues, praise for @Crack’s 24th wedding anniversary, @Samsonite’s minor oral surgery and travels will keep him out for the next two weeks.

When we get upset and respond right away, it often results in escalating the situation.  Practice being slow to speak, especially in those situations.  A book I’m reading talks about thinking, “Give it five minutes.”  Pause.  Give yourself time to think, evaluate, and calm down before you speak.  Don’t let your lips walk you into a fight.

100 of each exercise.  When finished, do burpees for the six (actually five).  Once we had five finishers we all stopped, ran to the bridge and back, then started the next exercise.

Metal bar speared through four coupons set up by the flag.

Thang1: Scout mosey to Monkey Bars.
Pass the KUBB game set up west of Hoffa.
Three PAX carrying coupons at the back. As the last PAX passes someone without a coupon, they pass it off and jog the rest of the way to the front. Some farmer’s carry, rifle carry, and PAX choice.

Thang 2: Three stations
1: monkey bars down and back
2: blockees
3: air thrusters
Monkey bars are the pacers.

Thang 3:

Thang: Some rucked.
Some ran the Pacer Test.
I figured out how to use a phone, youtube, and a speaker, guesstimated what 20 meters would be on two tennis courts, and ran the pacer test. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMcfIkW7kkM
At the tone, PAX ran from one side of the singles tennis court to the other side of the next court’s singles area. I think it was more like 22 meters. The time between beeps stayed steady for 7 lengths, then sped up for the next 7 or 8 lengths and so on until no one could finish. You were allowed one failure. Once you failed twice, your test was over. My fastest fifth graders typically get a score of 60-70 rounds. One year I had a student get 106. Our high today was 78. When I got to school I measured the gym where we run it. The distance was 18.6 meters. I plan to try it again when I Q next week Friday for run club. We’ll get closer to the 18.6 meters my students use. It should make a huge difference.

The fun planned for the epic wet snowfall were scrapped due to the complete and total lack of precipitation of any sort. Brutality ensued instead. Sorry, not sorry.

The Thang:
Pearls on a String
PAX stayed together throughout the workout, completing reps mostly OYO with a short mosey between stations of Cooties, bleachers by the ball field, the SHOP, the building by the pond, and the flag.
Three rounds. Five stops each.

Round one: legs
Goblet squats, Weighted lunges, weighted step ups, wall sit with partner coupon pass, hillbilly squats

Round two: arms
Pike position pull ups or toes to bar. Five PAX at a time, switch with a partner at failure, hold plank while waiting, Ranger merkins, table press, hip slappers: feet up on wall, tap hips instead of shoulder taps, overhead clap IC to 62 followed by Moroccan Night Clubs to 2.

Round three: burpees
Hand release pull up burpees, hand release tuck jump burpees, box jump burpees, Navy SEAL burpees IC Q called (5), Navy SEAL burpees IC (10 count) Each PAX called out one (9)
